Alia Investments Pvt Ltd has proudly donated a Yamaha 150-horsepower engine to the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy to aid in the conservation of the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The donation marks an important contribution to the Ministry’s efforts to maintain the rich biodiversity and natural resources of the atoll, which is internationally recognized for its environmental significance.

The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy, where Alia Investments’ Managing Director, Alau Ali, presented the engine to Minister Thoriq Ibrahim. During his speech, Minister Thoriq congratulated Alia on its 60th anniversary and praised the company for its long-standing contributions to the Maldives. He also noted that this was the first and most significant gift received by the Ministry from a private company, emphasizing the importance of the partnership between Alia and the Ministry in promoting environmental conservation.

The Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve is one of 564 biosphere reserves globally, recognized for its unique ecosystem and species richness. Managed by the Ministry’s department for environmental protection, the atoll plays a key role in the country’s conservation efforts. Alia Investments hopes that the Yamaha engine will prove to be a valuable tool in supporting the Ministry’s work to sustainably manage the area’s natural resources.

As Alia celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, the company reflects on its long history of revolutionizing marine transportation in the Maldives. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Yamaha outboard engines being introduced to the Maldives by Alia, along with the company’s continued commitment to providing exceptional after-sales service.

Alia Investments looks forward to future collaborations with the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy, and remains dedicated to supporting environmental conservation initiatives across the Maldives.
